Abstract (English)

Defining the art of the 20th century as the art of the new, Aarons accounts for nine young Canadian artists' figurative works through a discussion of the permissive society. The author discusses seven older Canadian artists' works in terms of the quality and philosophical engagement of their work. Biographical notes.
