Abstract (English)

This compilation of 44 texts, written by Sherman between 1974 and 1982, forms a counterpart to his video, film, and performance work, which examines the effect of mass media, especially television, on individual consciousness. Holmes reflects on how mass information is used to engineer cultural identities, based on a passive, de-centered individual. Biographical notes. Circa 50 bibl. ref.
