Abstract (English)

Describing the exhibition as including traditional art from Africa and North America which shows the effects of colonialism and work by contemporary artists who have access across cultures, the authors define syncretism as the process of recombination and change in a shared pluri-cultural environment. The dominant culture paradigm that produces divisions such as high art versus folk art is critiqued. Biographical notes.
