Abstract (English)"In Jacqueline Kiyomi Gordon’s sculptures, fabric, foam, wood, plastic, extruded aluminum and clay act as support structures for the primary material: sound. Employing these various components for their acoustical properties as much as for their visual or structural properties, Gordon’s work positions sound as a material that is every bit as physical as the visual elements in her work. In constructing these objects that variously diffuse, reflect and absorb sound waves, Gordon’s work facilitates an intimate, tactile experience that explores the relationship of the human body to an acoustic environment." -- Publisher's website.
