Abstract (English)

"Absolute Countdown, Giniger’s first solo exhibition in North America, traces the artist’s attempt to “cheer up” a weeping willow with the help of artificial wind. The melancholic object becomes the subject of this poetic intervention, as the artist’s forceful yet ephemeral action attempts to momentarily erase the willow’s somber shrug. While this monumental—but ultimately untenable—gesture eventually dissolves, its afterimage comes laden with the gravity of sentiment, the instability of expectation, and the brevity of romantic ideals." -- Publisher's website.
