Abstract (English)

" In 1984, the general theme of the Venice Biennale was Arte e Arti: Attualità e Storia. In the central pavilion was an exhibition of art which reflected other art: Arte allo Specchio. This so-called 'citazionismo' has cropped up in various episodes of modern art history. It would have been keeping up with the general theme that year to have presented Lucassen, a painter whose work seems to contain a great deal of quotations. " -- Page 4 of catalog.
