Abstract (English)

Fox suggests that Longo's work, which constructs allegories for public consumption, is part of a romantic tradition which seeks truth through the individual's aspiration for fulfilment. Foster situates Longo's work within postmodernism's discourse on representation in its use of appropriation, allegory, spectacle and consumption. Dreckmann describes Longo's film and video work as enlarging, reframing and recontextualizing imagery appropriated from mass media. Biographical notes. Circa 200 bibl. ref.
