Abstract (English)Essays consider "cultural persistence" in relation to physical, cultural and environmental survival. The history of Inuit art and its reception in southern Canada is outlined. Considering the relation of cultural identity and the reading of art, the effect of the internment of Japanese-Canadians on the community and on individual identity is analyzed.
