Abstract (English)" It is widely understood that knitting is a handicraft used to create apparel such as mittens, socks, and sweaters. Yarn and needles are not usually thought to belong in the same realm as sketchbooks and graphite pencils, but both knitting and drawing serve to creating functional objects while also conveying concepts in a fine art context. Knitting has been labeled as a woman's craft and thus has been less valued than fine art creations throughout history; I want to acknowledge this stereotype and embrace it as I am devoting myself to its practice. Many artists such as Haegue Yang, Judith Scott, and Sheila Hics have used yarn and textile in their sculptures and installations, subverting viewers' expectations towards these materials and making space for knitting in the contemporary art world, outside of the domestic space. Mainly, this book seeks to show the meditative and time-consuming process of knitting. I believe this medium has the potential to carry a lot of meaning, and I am hoping to share with you what this process represents to me. " -- p.5
