Abstract (English)

"A collection of portraits by original riot grrrl, filmmaker, and zine queen, G.B. Jones. All of them witches – from the silverscreen, woodlands, and the streets. Featuring provocative essays by Caroline Azar, Paul P., Leafshimmer, Jenna Danchuk, Blake Baron Ray, and Scott Treleaven – each exploring how witches have been perceived, presented, and portrayed in popular culture. “Realer than real, stranger than fiction.”

G. B. Jones is a Canadian artist, filmmaker, musician, and publisher of zines, known for her contributions to the queer punk and post-punk scenes. Jones initially gained recognition for her Tom Girls drawings, which were published in the queer punk fanzine J.D.s, which she founded and co-published with Bruce LaBruce. From the early 1980s to the late 1990s, Jones performed with the experimental post-punk band Fifth Column and was one of the co-founders of the group. Jones has also directed several films, including The Troublemakers, The Yo-Yo Gang, and The Lollipop Generation." -- Distributor's website.
