Abstract (English)

" 'How Nice to Have a Hobby,' is a comment sometimes made about women's art. Attaching the label of "hobby" to female artwork implies that it is something petty or done to keep oneself amused. In today's world we wonder if the term is obsolete because few people have spare time. The distinction between hobby and professional practice should have nothing to do with gender and labelling women's creative work as such reduces its value and status. " -- p.1 of document
