Abstract (English)

In her lengthy analysis of Ewen's works on paper, Fraser takes up Philip Monk's identification of a paradigmatic shift in the artist's work from modernist to (language-based) postmodernist, writes a history of Ewen's career, and in the process, narrates a subtext about the regional differences between the Montréal, Toronto, and London, Ontario art scenes of the 1950s to the 1970s. 56 bibl. ref.
