Abstract (English)

Gagnon's critical-biographical essay, well-supported by scholarly citations and quotes, critiques Borduas' production in relation to period society and the art world. The author divides his argument into four sections according to the places which marked the artist's work (St-Hilaire, Montréal, New York, Paris).
