Abstract (English)

The documentation of this exhibition comprises three examples of "the new cartography" - "maps" of Brazil, Nigeria and Hong Kong which are actually large, folded photographs that distill significant socio-political problems of the respective countries into single images - and a Chilean "passport" with text and black-and-white details of the Brazil poster. Phillips' text explains the motivations behind Jaar's travelling and art production as an attempt to locate, name and inhabit the geographies or repression and present them to art audiences in the "developed" world. Biographical notes. Bibl. 2 p.
