Abstract (English)

Davis analyzes Rabinowitch's "Gravitational Vehicles" (1965-1966), identifying references to the laws of physics (specifically Galileo's theory on falling bodies and relativity according to Einstein). The artist considers the impact of theoretical physics on artistic creation and defines the notions of meaning and reference in relation to his sculptures. Includes the artist's working notes and descriptions of 56 sculptures and projects compiled by Neiman. Biographical notes. 38 bibl. ref.
