Abstract (English)

Five Japanese and Canadian essayists analyse the works of nine young Japanese artists. While addressing the "art of the moment" and how it differs from past influences from the West, the authors consider the problem of gender in the cultural community in Japan, the notion of hybridity and its application in the Japanese art context.
