Abstract (English)

Ferguson's text briefly accounts for the qualities of MacKay's portraits (oil and pastel renderings of juxtaposed slide-projections on unprimed tar-paper) through what is basically a biographical sketch. Isolated beginnings in P.E.I., experiences in Halifax and Lethbridge and the artist's self-imposed exile in Switzerland and return to Canada are central to the discussion. Biographical notes. 6 bibl. ref.
