Abstract (English)This catalogue to accompany an exhibition of Wolfe’s paintings from the 1990s contains an essay by Paul and an interview with the artist by Berlutti. Paul considers the Quebec artist’s entire body of work in terms of passion, intuition and the act of making. She insists that his work resides outside dominant styles: between abstraction and the figurative. In the interview Wolfe describes the link between the creative process and tools; the development of motifs in his painting; and how pleasure and displeasure (as well as the whole spectrum of emotions) must be simultaneously sought after.
