Abstract (English)

Gogarty describes selected works in Gordon’s exhibition of abstract/realistic paintings, presented at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery. She draws attention to the variety of formal approaches employed by Gordon, while placing emphasis on the allegorical/narrative structure of the artist’s work. Numerous references are made to I. Calvino’s concepts of “quickness” and “multiplicity”, and G. Vattimo’s theories on ornamentation, heterotopia and “weak thought.” List of works. Biographical notes on the artist. 23 bibl. ref.
