Abstract (English)"To make a 'blanket statement' is to make a generalization. But as labours of love, tradition carriers, political statements and fabric paintings, quilts defy generalization. [...] Despite the diversity of form and intent, a quilt, for many people, still means an arrangement of patchwork blocks set side by side and sewn together to make a blanket. Blanket Statements is an exhibition that extends the definition of 'quilt', expanding our idea of what quilts can be through the work of four diverse artists who are pushing the boundaries of the quilt. Jean Hewes is exploring its imagery, Barbara Todd its meaning. Clarissa Hudson investigates the limits of an exacting tradition while Margaret Wood transforms very old traditions into the newer one of quilting." -- p. [2].
