Abstract (English)

Bourriaud deploys the technical term of postproduction to refer to contemporary art practices that create artworks based on preexisting works. Surveying contemporary art in the 1990s and focusing on a select group of artists, Bourriaud evinces a culture of use that positions artworks as temporary loci in a network of elements. He concludes by arguing that it is the viewer’s task to bring these relations to light. 29 bibl. ref.
