Wild Life : Three Exhibitions Interpreting the Nature of the PrairieTools Marion, Joanne; Kennedy, Marsha; Silversides, Brock. Wild Life : Three Exhibitions Interpreting the Nature of the Prairie. Medicine Hat, Alta: Medicine Hat Museum and Art Gallery, 2001.
Abstract (English)Pamphlets published to accompany three exhibitions on nature in the prairies. Kennedy describes her still lifes as feminine and domestic, yet capable of awakening the viewer to a larger vision. Marion interviews Johnson about her vision of the prairies and her life’s work as an artist and naturalist. Silversides surveys photographs of the prairies by artists, scientists, hunters, and amateurs, concluding that the viewer’s response to the supposedly objective medium cannot be neutral. Brief biographical notes.
