Abstract (English)

A multidisciplinary collection of papers illustrating the diversity of discourse on contemporary craft from a symposium including makers, curators and teachers. Reaffirming the distinction between art and craft, Halpin summarises the presentations by suggesting they represent a move in craft discourse away from the language of art criticism, which fails to appreciate its particular qualities. Texts in English with French abstracts. Texts by M. Cheff and M. Paradis in French with English abstracts. Biographical notes on contributors. 180 bibl. ref.
