Abstract (English)

Wallace suggests the elements of this exhibition, including underwater photographs and travel journals, reinforce the myth of the artist as explorer. The ambiguous relation between fact and fiction in the work leads Wallace to claim that the viewer is left suspended between belief and disbelief. 12 facsimile postcards contain correspondence between the curator and Lawrence on the subject of the exhibition.
