Abstract (English)Identifying pictorialism as the popular aesthetic movement in photography in postwar Vancouver, guest curator Pakasaar goes on to trace the development of Canadian photography from the 1940's to the 1960's. The author discusses the salons of various Vancouver camera clubs, as well as the activities of the National Film Board and the impact of picture magazines and fashion advertising on photographic aesthetic.
