Abstract (English)

"Over the past few years there has been an explosion of interest among visual artists in the popular culture of music - its diverse, yet ubiquitous manifestations. 'Re-play' explores the ways in which 18 established and emerging Canadian artists have taken up popular music, its forms of musical and visual expression, in such mediums as drawing, sculpture, video, performance and installation." -- p. « Ces dernières années, la culture musicale populaire - ses diverses mais omniprésentes manifestations - a suscité chez les artistes visuels une explosion d'intérêt. "Reprise" explore comment 18 artistes canadiens reconnus et de la relève ont fait leur la musique populaire, ses formes d'expression musicale et visuelle, par l'intermédiaire de médiums comme le dessin, la sculpture, la vidéo, la performance et l'installation. » -- p.
