Abstract (English)A discussion of photo-based works acquired by the Banff Centre since 1988. Townsend-Gault looks at aspects of photographic practice in Canada since the late 1960s. The ten following essays focus on the work of individual artists, addressing topics such as poverty, erotic and advertising imagery, social critique, the ordinary, the historical conflict of Western and Native economies, flag imagery in art, and the control of female identity.
