Abstract (English)

Barber's essay examines "advocacy advertising" and its analogies with propaganda, which have "rarely been placed on the agenda in recent debates on advocacy advertising." Followed by the reproduction of 19 such advertisements by United Technologies published between 1981 and 1984 in "The Atlantic" magazine, here annotated by Barber. 16 bibl. ref.
