Abstract (English)

The authors discuss the works of 20 international photographers with respect to their references to the history of painting and the genre tradition. One essayist draws correspondences between the so-called "objectivity" of the camera, the idea of the photographic image as a mirror of the viewer, and the portrait genre; others meditate on the still-life in modern civilization and investigate the problem of landscape for contemporary art.
