Abstract (English)

Steiner's introduction to a ten-year retrospective of Serrano's photographs surveys initially her subjective responses to the work, and then draws connections to other "provocating" artists, like Goya and Picasso. Hobbs' essay delves into the artist's biography in order to nuance his work, while Tucker discusses the startling effects of his photographs. Biographical notes. 55 bibl. ref.
