Abstract (English)

Guest curators Collins & Milazzo have selected works by 21 international painters and sculptors to examine "the way in which abstraction, today, in the art matrix, reaches into the Social." Their essay investigates the hybrid network of relations between the Formal and the Social, set in the context of a crisis of representation and the reification of critique. Analysing the "strange role" of the art critic and the mistrust affecting critical activity since formalist criticism, Indiana comments on Collins & Milazzo's audacious curatorial project.
